I AM A 17 YEAR OLD BOY( WEIGHT 72 KGS).I HAVE ASTHAMA .THREE WEEKS BACK I STARTED GETTING HIGH FEVER I GOT CHEST X RAY AND HAD PNEUMONITIS.SO I TOOK ANTIBIOTICS( LIVOFLOX 750 FOR 8 DAYS) AND THE FEVER WENT.BUT TWO-THREE DAYS AFTER DISCONTINUING ANTIBIOTICS I STARTED FEELING AS IF I AM GOING TO HAVE FEVER AND HAD CHILLS(IS THIS WORRISOME?).THOUGH THE FEVER NEVER CROSSED THE 98.5 F MARK,BUT I WAS BIT SCARED IS ASTHAMA DELAYING RECOVERY?(I HAVE BEEN TAKING FORACORT 200 FOR A YEAR,SO CAN IT BE A CAUSE OF PNEUMONITIS) BUT WITH TIME THE FEELING AND COUGH IS SUBSIDING .PLEASE REPLY.THANK YOU.

You are just and wise in being concerned about the symptoms you describe.  As always when you are worried about your breathing or think you might have a cold or infection, you should always discuss this with your physician.  He or she is the only one who knows you well enough to tell you what you should do (or not do). 

 

There has been much written on whether medicines like Foricort (Symbicort) cause pneumonia.  I have read about some studies that prove this medicine "may" cause pneumonia, and some that say it does not, so there really is no conclusive evidence either way.  Still, if you have concerns about your asthma meds or the side effects thereof, you should consult your asthma doctor.
