You are just and wise in being concerned about the symptoms you describe.  As always when you are worried about your breathing or think you might have a cold or infection, you should always discuss this with your physician.  He or she is the only one who knows you well enough to tell you what you should do (or not do).    There has been much written on whether medicines like Foricort (Symbicort) cause pneumonia.  I have read about some studies that prove this medicine "may" cause pneumonia, and some that say it does not, so there really is no conclusive evidence either way.  Still, if you have concerns about your asthma meds or the side effects thereof, you should consult your asthma doctor.   For more information regarding inhaled corticosteroids and the risk of them causing pneumonia (Symbicort and Advair both contain inhaled corticosteroids) check out this related link.
