Q: Asthma queries

I remember listening to Dr. Dean Adell in the early 80's, soon after my son was diagnosed with asthma. Soon after that, his xray reflected an enlarged chest vessel/vein. When I asked his pediatrician about it, he blew it off.So did I! A lady across the street later revealed she had taken prescribed asthma meds for years; yet had recently accessed a physician that told her she did not have asthma at all! Later, I heard your radio broadcast that a simple medical procedure could 'cure' asthma like symptoms. 30 years later, I am online an you have a website....yet my son still suffers the effects of asthma. He is on daily Advair. I am not comfortable with this. He has not seen a pulmonary specialist in over 20 years! Please direct both he and I, if you have time. Thank you!!!

Cat... It sounds as though you're addressing this question to someone specific when you say things like "I heard you on the radio..." But this site is staffed by a number of asthma experts and many other people make contributions as well. So if you were trying to correspond with someone specific, please use their name here.

However, I can tell you right now that if your son is still dealing with asthma symptoms, it might be time to consult with an asthma specialty doctor, either a pulmonologist or an allergist. That is the best person to determine what is going on right now and to give each of you some direction on what treatment, if any, is right for him.

Take care,

Kathi
