It's worth it for your peace of mind (we have one too). I bought it off of Ebay for less than $70. Just for the heck of it I even took it with us to the E.R. the last time we had to go and it was right on the mark with the hospitals for his pulse and O2 levels. I have a peak air flow meter too, but I haven't been able to figure out what the base level should be or how to set it up. The pulse oximeter is SO simple and I can even check my son when he's sleeping.
