When people have a cold, they are most contagious during the first 24 hours of the illness, and they usually remain infectious for as long as the symptoms last. Cold symptoms can last a few days or up to a week. But if you develop a nagging cough, that can last for several weeks.

Thanks for your answer.  I'm curious about your remark "you are typically not contagious at that point".  Where did you learn it from?  Can you cite a source?  :-)

OK, I'm looking at the page.  I can see that you got "But if you develop a nagging cough, that can last for several weeks" from there.  But what is your source for the words "you are typically not contagious at that point"?  :)
