Q: Singulair (10 mg.) use and how long can it be use?

Hello, my name is Mary, and my son (17 years), has been using Singulair(10 mg.), for two years,  He had an "open heart surgery" at age of 4. I am worry about any side effects, and I don't know how long can this medicine can be use. His pulmo.told me once, that he knew cases for up to 11years. Also he has been in Veramyst, Nasonex, and Zyrtex, Miami, Fl.Thanks.

Hi Mary,

 

I couldn't find anywhere (in my references or on the Singulair web site) that state the medication can only be used for a certain length of time.  However, it's important to keep in mind that Singulair was only introduced on the market in 1998.  As long as the medication is working and your son is being followed closely by his pulmo and by you, he should be able to continue using the medication.
