Sunday, November 28, 2010 Jaime asks

Q: took advair for 10 years. stopped for 3 weeks, now on singulair. Asthma was well controlled for 10 years, never using inhaler. But still have nagging cough, seems to increase with singulair

all under advice of doctor. Any suggestions

I'm not sure, but I would imagine he's probably had good experience with asthmatics taking Singulair alone, and thought you might be a good candidate.  If it worked great.  Yet it appears the Advair was doing a better job of controlling inflammation in your lungs than Singulair alone.  Perhaps you should call your doctor back and recommend he re-prescribe Advair. 

 

I wouldn't think side effects would be a problem with Advair for you, since you were on it for 10 years.  So that wouldn't be motivation to get you off.  So I'd definitely give him a call.
