I have had asthma all of my life but it largely went undiagnosed...

Hi Donna,

Wow I have used Albuterol for years and never had any mouth sores. You don't share your inhalers with anyone else do you?

You didn't say what kind of mouth sores you have, whether they are the herpes variety (cold sores on the outside of the lips) or the canker sores (inside the mouth) But you can click on the links above to find out information for both.

If the sores are somewhat of a bother and you are concerned, the best thing to do is seek the advice of your doctor. While online sites are great resources for information, you and your doctor can work together to determine the best way to manage your healthcare.

Take care and stay in touch!

Hi, I have benn using Albuterol sence I was 12, I have only got the sores once ans I was told by my doctor to rinse with water after using your inhaler to prevent them, as far as getting rid of them my grandma said rinse with saltwater.

Every time I use my Albuterol inhaler, I get the sores too, mostly on the roof of my mouth. They show up about 24 hours after I use it. They aren't canker sores or cold sores, they're more like tiny pimples, and they can be very painful. I've tried rinsing and gargling with water immediately after using my inhaler, but I still get them. I haven't tried salt water, but I'll try that next.
