All I do is cough from the dripping at the back of my throat. I cannot sleep because of the hacking cough.

I think what you need to do is speak with a doctor. He'll be able to find out what is causing this, and provide some recommendations or treatmetn that should help. Do you have a sinus infection? Allergies? Other? Your doctor should be able to help.
