Dear Melia:
First, there is no absolute way to say that a 4 month old with eczema and a cold will definitely develop asthma. There hasn't been a gene that has been isolated to show exactly who will develop asthma in a family.
Now, with that said, there is a pattern that can be shown that some who have eczema are more likely to develop asthma. Individuals with parents or siblings with asthma have a higher possibility for developing asthma.
Concern over our children's health and wellbeing can get overwhelming at times - especially when we don't know exactly what to expect. So, as always, if you find that your baby develops any symptoms that concern you, please visit and ask your healthcare provider.

Not everyone with eczema has asthma. And not everyone with asthma has eczema, but the two are definitely linked. Only because both are allergic reactions.
