Rick is definitely right about consulting with your doctor. Consider a consult with an allergist or pulmonologist (asthma experts) if you've never done so in the past. Might find you get a whole new approach to treatment out of that.   For your runny nose, have you ever tried a saline nasal rinse? Many people these days are finding it really helps relieve nasal congestion and other nasal symptoms. And that can help reduce the cough too at times. It's all natural and easy to do.
