Topics:Asthma Question

I am going on holiday to Gran Canaria in early August  - I was wondering if you knew where I could information on air quality.  I have mild asthma which is only normally affected by colds.  I normally only take Pulmicort Turbohaler twice daily and Beconase nasal spray in the hayfever season or if I go anywhere with cats/dogs.  My email is Anne.Wilson@northants.nhs.uk

Hi Ms. Wilson,

I have never been to Gran Canaria but would love to go. It is usually very hot there during the summer, averaging in the mid 90s. Nights cool down to the upper 70s and occasional 60s. Because of wind currents, air quality is probably not highly reported. Prevailing winds tend to disperse particles that cause pollution.

There are occasional sand storms that blow through from the Sahara but they have not been reported to be severe. Pack a dust mask just in case.

Prepare a checklist of all your medications and don't forget them. You can probably find more information on the Internet.

Have a good trip!
