Q: SHOULD PEOPLE WITH ASTHMA GET A PNEUMONIA SHOT?

The American Lung Association does not list asthma as an indication for a pneumonia shot.  To read more about the pneumococcal vaccine, click this link, or read the excerpt below.

 

"It is recommended for adults over 65 years old with normal immune systems, and those over 2 years old with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, anatomic or functional asplenia, immunocompromised systems such as HIV or cancer patients and those who work or live in settings with increased risk."

Yes, as they are more prone to lung infections and serious breathing problems
