Q: Can inhalers be the problem to hoarseness

Have Asthma and COPD and take Spivira ,Advair and Ventolin HFA..... had Thyroid Surgery last Nov and Dr found 2 tumors on my vocolcord last May..... my voice never came back from first surgery always sound hoarse, can this be from the inhalers I'm taking ?

While rare, hoarseness is a possible side effect from Advair.  Usually if you are going to have a side effect from it this will happen within the first 1-3 weeks of starting it.  So if you have been taking Advair a long time, the source of your hoarseness more than likely is not coming from your inhaler use.

 

FYI:  With proper rinsing you should be able to eliminate the risk of developing any side effects from this inhaler.  And, regardless, you should always talk to your doctor about any concerns you have.
