Hi Darlene,

Stress can be a trigger for asthma symptoms in people who already have asthma. Stress itself does not cause asthma. In fact, experts aren't entirely sure what DOES cause asthma, though allergy certainly seems to play a role in the majority (but not all) of people.

I think it is much more likely that you are having a reaction to some type of irritant in the carpet your husband was working with. Carpeting is notorious for putting out irritating chemical fumes. But you should really see your doctor for evaluation before assuming you have asthma.

To your health,

Kathi

Darlene,  stress certainly causes my asthma to become significantly worse.  That said, I know that taking up an old carpet without a mask would cause me big problems.

Hi stress is fear - fear is a emotional response to a situation or thought - the hypothalaums gland will respond to fear or stress - releasing chemicals into your body - the dust etc is just a trigger -Get rid of the stress and your asthma will go. God did not give you a spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind. Be blessed Reply

Darlene,

I've heard that stress does trigger asthma. I've also heard of coughing when you have anything to do with dust when you have asthma. I don't really think that part makes much difference if you have asthma or not, but I have heard of it.

My nephew has asthma, and he's too young yet to have too much stress. He got it when he was very young, and we about lost him because nobody knew what was wrong with him. Ever since then I have been trying to find out more about it; I hope this helps you a little bitSmile
