Hi Sam,   When you feel short of breath, that an asthma symptom, and a sign that asthma control is slipping, probably because you were exposed to one of your triggers. In people with mild asthma, sometimes symptoms may abate over time, if they are also mild. I know I've experienced that at times.   However, your rescue (quick-relief) inhaler was prescribed for a reason, and that's to treat asthma symptoms that arise. So my advice is to use it as intended and take it as soon as you notice any asthma symptoms, whether shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, or chest tightness.   If you need to start using your inhaler more than twice a week, though, that's a sign that your asthma is not under control, which may mean changes in your treatment plan are needed. When that happens, a call to your doctor for advice is essential. Uncontrolled asthma can have serious side effects.   To your health, Kathi
