Where can I buy Alupent? In another country? I can't use many of the other new inhalers because they do not work for me. My chest and lungs burn after using it. What would you suggest?

Hello Anna,
Alupent is a type of medication known as a bronchodilator, which simply means it relaxes -- or expands -- your airways, to help make breathing easier. Unfortunately, bronchodilators have been found to be ineffective -- and downright dangerous -- in controlling asthma. In fact, some studies have shown that when a person with asthma takes only a bronchodilator, they face an significant increase in their risk of dying from asthma.
All experts now recommend an inhaled steroid as the first line treatment of choice for asthma. Steroids reduce the underlying inflammation that is at the root of asthma symptoms, thereby preventing symptoms (or at least lessening them a lot).
Your chest and lungs should not burn after using asthma medication. I wasn't sure from what you wrote if you meant that the Alupent caused that or some other medicine.
My advice is to make an appointment to be examined by a doctor. Discuss which medication will be the best choice in controlling your asthma symptoms and then follow that plan carefully.
Good luck,
Kathi
