how can my husband control his asthma and polyups

my husband has asthma and reocurring polups in his nose,how can he control all of this that is going on inside of him.he sees his dr.twice a year,and takes his advair regulary.but i wish there was more that could be done for him.

I can't tell for sure from your note, but it sounds as though you don't feel your husband's asthma is completely under control even with the Advair. If this is true, then it may be time to talk frankly with the doctor. He or she can't help you if s/he doesn't know what's going on.

 

There are many choices in treatment for asthma and sometimes when one medicine doesn't work well enough, another one will. Each person is different, so sometimes doctors have to use a bit of a trial and error process to find the exact combination that will work for someone.

 

Another option is to ask for a referral to an allergist or pulmonologist, specialists who treat people with asthma. They have the latest knowledge and greatest degree of skill in treating asthma. Every asthmatic should be seen by a specialist if asthma control is difficult to attain.
