Sunday, July 26, 2009 A.Bowden asks

Q: I am 12 and by my symtoms it sounds like asthma and asthma does not run through my family

Last Night July 25 I woke up thirsty and i was fine i got to use the rest room when i layed down i could not sleep i kept turning and coughing. a few moments later i was breather hard really hard and fast. I felt i couldn't breath. it lasted  about 2 hours I am 12 and my grandmother was trieing to help me breath right. Asthma does not run through my family but my symtoms have been the last 3 days coughing, chest hurts a little feels tight, my legs, hips, shoulders and back hurt they are sore., I am feeling tired and have a little truble sleeping. I don't know what to do we don't know what happend please help.

Great question, but unfortunately we cannot diagnose you over the Internet.  What you really should do is talk with a grownup (your mom or your grandma perhaps) and have that person take you to your doctor.  He (or she) is the only person who can tell you what is wrong, and what you can do about it.
