Australian scientists say that treating childhood eczema may help prevent asthma. As part of a national health study, researchers tracked over 8,500 people from the ages of 7 to 44. They found that children who had eczema were almost twice as likely to develop asthma as they aged compared to people who did not have the skin condition. Researchers say eczema in children may be an early sign of an allergic process that leads to inflammation and respiratory problems.
