According to The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, women who have severe asthma symptoms run the risk of depriving the fetus of oxygen. Low oxygen levels can lead to premature birth and low birth weight. Experts say women should talk to their doctor about better ways to manage their asthma symptoms during pregnancy.
