Drinking a caffeinated beverage an hour before exercising may cut symptoms of exercise-induced asthma (EIA), a new study has found. Researchers in Indiana gave participants 3, 6, or 9 milligrams of caffeine or a placebo an hour before they were asked to run on a treadmill. They found that 9 milligrams of caffeine per kilogram of body weight was as effective as the use of an albuterol inhaler to treat or prevent EIA.
