Do antibiotics help treat chronic asthma?

Studies showing the presence of bacteria in chronic asthma patients are challenging the long-held belief that antibiotics are not useful in treating asthma. Some doctors are prescribing antibiotics and finding that the drugs can help patients' severe asthma become a more manageable condition.
