Researchers studying the genetic roots of Crohn's disease say they've discovered 21 new genes and loci that may increase susceptibility for the disease. Included in the new discoveries are genes that link Crohn's disease with asthma, diabetes, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers aren't sure how the connections affect patients, but they suggest that the new study could help shed light on the process of inflammation.
