A new study has shown that patients who take proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) along with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like diclofenac have more gastrointestinal problems than patients who take COX-2 inhibitors for pain relief. But experts say that taking a PPI like Nexium or Prevacid with an NSAID may still be safer and less expensive for patients.
