Patients with chronic asthma may benefit from a type of breathing exercise used in yoga. The exercises, called pranayama, focus on increasing breath control and relaxation--two outcomes that some experts say could help ease asthma symptoms. Breathing exercises are also useful because they can be practiced without stopping conventional asthma medications, experts say.
