Adults who suffered from lung diseases such as bronchitis, asthma,
and pneumonia as children are at increased risk of illness and
death later in life, a new study suggests. Scottish researchers
studied 9,554 men and found that those who had respiratory
infections or asthma as children were 57 percent more likely to die
of respiratory disease as adults. Childhood lung disorders were
also linked to an increased risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease and heart disease.
