A new study finds that inhaled insulin is effective in managing diabetes, but some medical experts have concerns. Data from 16 clinical trials shows that the most common side effect of drugs like Exubera is a dry cough, but a few patients experience more serious problems, such as a decrease in lung function. Researchers say more studies are needed to determine if the inhaled version of the drug is safe in the long term.
