The common asthma drug albuterol may help patients who have multiple sclerosis, a new study suggests. In a study of 39 patients with relapsing-remitting MS, those who received a dose of albuterol in addition to their glatiramer injection went longer before their first relapse than those who had gotten a placebo. Researchers believe the drug works by helping tamp down the overactive immune system.
