Researchers discover what makes asthma chronic

British researchers say they've discovered how changes in the airways leads to chronic asthma. Experts say that asthma symptoms cause smooth muscle to grow in the airways, which means they become more reactive to allergens. Researchers at King's College, London say that the discovery may lead to new treatments that help the muscle cells relax, so patients can breathe more easily.
