Women who use oral contraceptives may have an increased risk of asthma—particularly if they are overweight, a new study has found. Scandinavian researchers discovered that women who used a birth control pill were 42 percent more likely to have asthma than women who didn’t use an oral contraceptive at all. Among those who took the pill, the odds for asthma were 91 percent higher in overweight women, 45 percent higher for normal-weight women, and 69 percent lower for thin women.
