Yoga may halve asthma symptoms

Researchers at the American College of Sports Medicine say that yoga can halve asthma symptoms after just 10 weeks. The study on a group of asthmatics had participants taking an entry-level yoga class twice per week, and asked them to do 30 minutes of yoga once a week at home. After 10 weeks, asthma severity and frequency had been reduced in all participants, and they reported that their quality of life had improved by 40 percent. Experts say the secret may be that yoga's deep breathing helps improve lung capacity, which means patients may be better able to handle an asthma attack.  Read full story >
