Minority patients who believe it is important to take their corticosteroid even when they're symptom-free are more likely to take their meds, a new study has found. This new study sheds light on why many asthma patients--particularly minorities--are often non-compliant on their asthma medications. Researchers also found that worries about drug side effects lowered the likelihood that patients would take their inhaler regularly. Experts say this study suggests that doctors should be better at addressing patients' concerns about drugs, and should stress how importance asthma maintenance is for overall health.
