Asthmatics who have low levels of Vitamin D have worse symptoms than those who have a better vitamin D level, researchers say. The "sunshine vitamin" is also a good predictor of how well a patient will respond to steroid treatment. In a recent study, scientists found that those who had low levels of the vitamin had worse breathing and were less likely to respond well to steroid treatment than their asthmatic peers. Researchers say that vitamin D may work by preventing inflammation in the body.
