Tiniest Pollution Particles Spur Asthma Inflammation

Ultrafine particles of pollution near highways boost asthma symptoms, researchers have found. Scientists in Los Angeles found that the smallest pollution particles--about 1,000 the width of a human hair--caused inflammation deep in the lungs where other pollutants were unable to reach.
