A metered dose inhaler (MDI) delivers a specific amount of medicine in aerosol form. This makes it possible to inhale the medication, directly into the lungs.

MDI's are commonly used to treat asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other respiratory conditions.
