Out at Last! Out at Last!

It sure didn't come about the way I envisioned. I had pictured in my mind a hundred different scenarios, and not one included a supportive, caring group of people who had, over the past nine years become my friends.

I had received another appointment to two small churches about 10 miles from home. The pay was less, and there were no benefits provided. I accepted the position, met with the two pastor-parish commmittees and was approved, my first day scheduled for July 04.

Shortly after the meeting, I awoke one morning, and began the disability-application process. The thought of this had scared me before, but before I knew it, I had contacted my District Superintendent and the cat was out of the bag.

Since then the process has gone along with very little participation on my part. I have never felt so cared for by "corporate"; let it be said that the United Methodist Church acts as Jesus said, in John 13:34-35, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

The Spirit of Jesus Christ is alive and well within the United Methodist Church! Praise His Holy Name!
