If medications ex: (Topomax, Lamictal) that are used to treat Epilepsy work well treat Rapid Cycling Bipolar, then would other forms of treatment for Epilepsy of the same effect/results?
Possible other treatments could include: Bio or Neurofeedback therapy, Ketogenic Diet.
This might require some serious study or nobody may no at all. Or perhaps this is something that is being looked into. Just curious.

erinffteh,
So, you succeeded in sparking my curiosity about neurofeedback and its possible application in treating bipolar disorder. At first, I thought that if you have pondered the question of treatments for epilepsy being useful in treating bipolar disorder, then surely with the number of doctors interested in alternative treatments for bipolar disorder several must have looked into this as well and produced some study data to support or at least demonstrates some results.
On the general web, the most credible reference to the application of neurofeedback, reported mixed results, though I did find psychologists who advertise the use of it and benefits for bipolar disorder in their practice.
I logged onto Mescape.com, thinking surely they would have a journal article or cross-sectional study, using biofeedback for bipolar disorder, and I was dissappointed when my search for neurofeedback and bipolar disorder yielded no results.
My conclusions, at this point, regarding the use of neurofeedback, is that though some doctors are using it and have reported some success, it has not shown consistent results with the population to warrant further study by the medical community at this time. Now pay up for the half hour of research. lol
