Mad Survival.

Sunday, August 31, 2008 at 05:57 PMI am 42 years old and diagnosed as having Bipolar II Disorder. I have many other mental labels, but that is my primary diagnoses. I have survived child-hood incest, alcoholism of both my family and myself, kidnapping and rape, E.C.T. and also good times. I write about my experience, as well as that of others on my blog, http://danomacnamarrah.blogspot.com, as I hope to connect with others like me, as well as those who cannot fathom my experience.
I hate the word "consumer", when it comes to my mental health diagnoses. To me, it implies that I've shopped around until I bought the best product out there: Manic Depression. Just as "Bipolar" is offensive to me, as it smacks of polar bears and two of them at that! I like Manic Depression, because that's what I have, no ifs, ands or bears about it!
I love your site, which I fell into thanks to a health forum, earlier this year.....
Bearing up (!) and not shopping too much,

Than's Sue, for sharing with us this post.
My first time with taking outpatient therapy serious, it was in a therapy group that included more then people with bipolar disorder. Perhaps the word will get out.
