Anything At All?

You saw no way out.

The girl you adored was kept from you.

And made to give up your baby,

You saw no way out,                                           

And chose to end the despair

The sadness you felt cannot be matched.

There in the doorway you hung.

Did your feet dangle close to the floor?

Maybe the rope left marks around your neck.

Were there second thoughts, when it was too late?

Maybe hearing her voice, or simple caring words,

Or knowing your baby would be okay...

Was there anything at all that could have changed your mind?

I wish I had met you.

Heard your voice,

I imagine an unforgettable smile.

I will pray for you, and dream about you.

And when my time comes to join you, 

I will hug you,

Then ask you, was there anything at all that could have changed your mind?
