I hope you pdoc can help you determine if you have agrophobia or anxiety and treat you properly.

I take Klonipin (low dose) twice a day for tremers caused by another medicine I take for fibromyalgia but I also have a back up Rx for Klonipin for anxiety to use when needed.

For example, my boyfriend is a high school basketball coach and his team won the quarter finals last night.  After the game a lot of the families went to a local eatery to celebrate.  I was so hyped up from the game, plus I've been too north of normal for a few days now anyways, and the anxiety hit like a 2 x 4.  I had to leave and I felt really bad for leaving but I didn't have my Klonipin on me and I didn't want to break down or anything.  When I got home I was shaking so bad I couldn't hold a cup of water.  I took the back up Klonipin and I was fine within 30 minutes.  Tomorrow, for the semi-finals, I will take the extra Klonipin before the game:)

It's all trial and error finding exactly what works for you.

    Good luck!

Thanks, the team won the semi-finals todayBig Grin and will play the finals on Wednesday at a college in the city.  About 100 people from our little country school showed up and it was a lot of fun.  Even with the extra klonipin I was pretty shaky after but I didn't feel the tight muscles so I think it was an almost normal kind of shaky because we were all so happy.  I know it sounds pretty cheesy but I live in a really small community and we get excited about stuff like that.

I'm confused - are you dignosed as depression or as bipolar?

Reason why I ask is that if you are only on Ativan and Prozac (was it?) then you might want to talk with your doc.

It's just that a lot of folks with bipolar can't just take an anti-depressant.  They can cause the bipolar (illness) to head north or drop south or just stop all together.  They can also sometimes cause anxiety to worsen.

If you haven't already, please talk with your pdoc about your concerns regarding the anxiety and see what he/she suggests.

I was dx in 2005 as bipolar with moderate depression, also anxiety disorder with agoraphobia.

I posted because I needed to vent. I dont know what my problem is, is it the low, anxiety or agoraphobia that is taking me where I dont want to go.

I am just alittle confused, I dont have insurance so I really dont get the best care. I see a regular Dr, she has done some reading and stuff like that so she can make sure she is doing the right thing.

I thought I was taking the Prozac for the mood swings, and the Ativan for my anxiety. I did some research on Prozac but maybe not enough.

Like I said I am completely confused.

All I know is I am depressed, sleepy and  I dont want to leave my house.

I am sorry sometimes my thoughts are so scattered that I cant remember what I did yesterday.

It's okay.  I get that way myself quite often.

Prozac is a anti-depressant and Ativan is a tranquilizer.

Prozac is good for depression and Ativan is good for anxiety, agitation, and irritation.

You may want to just chat with your pdoc and let her know that your anxiety and/or agoraphobia has worsened a bit and you are concerned.  Sometimes it just takes a little tweak of the meds to help.

I think the trick might be to keep track of things and contact your doctor when you're noticing shifts that are extreme.  Hopefully you can avoid hospitalization by staying on top of this and making adjustments as needed.

I agree - keep a mood journal for a few days and see where the ups and downs are coming from.  In addition to bipolar depression it is also possible to have unipolar depression at the same time - double-whammy.  The trick is finding stable and it can be a long road.  I've usually had good luck getting stablized in the hospital but I personally try to avoid it.  Look up the websites for the pharmacies and also a website called www.drugs.com is not a bad one for general research.  I also like their interaction checker.  When my meds are changed a lot I run them through just for my own peace of mind.

    Christina,

I have been diagnosed with BD and with GAD..general anxiety disorder.  I have trouble leaving my house, my bed, going to the grocery store, you name it.  Agoraphobia (sp?) is common with GAD.  I take Klonopin, too, every night and it helps quite a bit.  It lasts longer in your body than Ativan so you don't have to take it as often.  Talk to your doc and ask for a referral to a pdoc.  A tweak in your meds may all that you need.

P.S.  When i am anxious, not only is my brain foggy but i get clumsy and very tired.  I guess my brain wants me to ride it out by sleeping instead of agitation.
