Life changes seem to be thrust upon us. We never seem to plan for them. Even when good things happen, we are never ready. We find ourselves out of our element, in unfamiliar situations, emotions running high, not knowing what to do next. Getting it wrong - what old-fashioned psychiatry refers to as a maladaptive response - can have disproportionately disastrous consequences. Getting it right - adapting in a positive manner - enhances our chances of making it through life's current transition in one piece, whole even.
We've all been there. Some of us are still going through it. We know there's more to come. Question:
How have you negotiated life's inevitable transitions? Feel free to share your experiences.
