Yes, we have had some winter weather the last two weeks here in Texas, too. But we don't normally have any sustained wintery weather. Not for months like they do up north. Today the sky is blue and the high was about 75 degrees, which is fabulous. I drove across town with my windows down and the radio blaring. The few days that I was stuck inside were not fun. I can see why some animals hibernate -- better to sleep through it and wake up in the spring.
Living in the northern end of your state it's been windy and blustery but doesn't quite have the nerve to rain. It did rain a bit last night but missed me totally. Orange trees waving in the breeze. Sitting inside wondering if Ill get blown away if I step outside. Fog. Fog can do me in. It reminds me of deression and I am depressed today. But it's nothing like SAD. The depression comes from trying to do too much and the results being only mediocre at best.
I find the two months with the least light, late November through late January, can be a bit of a downer, but otherwise I don't have too much of a problem with winter or seasonal fluctuations.
On a side note, a therapist once suggested I might have "reverse SAD". I don't know what the heck that is nor have I seen it mentioned elsewhere. I basically ignored the comment.
Hey, Westwind. Many people report that extreme summer temperatures can sap them of energy. Another factor could be that extreme heat drives people indoors. So - ironically - they are trapped in dark air-conditioned caves while it is blazing outside.
In context I'm not sure if that's what she was implying, but thanks for the info.
