People Who Inspire You - Bipolar Question of the Week

By John McManamy, Health Guide Saturday, August 20, 2011

I’m at Sacramento Airport waiting for my flight home to San Diego from three days of the NAMI California convention. Conferences always wear me out. I am thrown off all my routines vital to maintaining good mental health, including diet, exercise, and sleep. I can’t wait to crash in my own bed tonight.

But the people I ran into more than made up for that. For the most part, we are talking about the unsung - people like us, those visited by mental illness - serving in their communities. I will sing their praises in a future post. For the time being, let’s just say it was an honor being in their presence. I’m exhausted and worn out, yet I am nourished.

The world is a challenging place in the best of times. I’m headed back home, both humbled and inspired, in better shape to face whatever may lie ahead.

Question: Inspirational people in your life. Who are they? How have they changed you?
