Just a quick note to report that I am back from three weeks off the grid. Each morning found me waking up in a tent to the sounds (and silences) of nature in her full majesty, blissfully devoid of any assist from the increasingly irrelevant members of my fellow species. The splendid exception was four days of waking up in the forest primeval to didgeridoos and drumming.
My trip took me through the Sierras, Mt Lassen, Mt Shasta, the Oregon coast and inland, and back into California into the sacred precincts of the giant redwoods. John Muir said it all:
Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.
