Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 01:45 AMThanks John. I'll let you know what two Brits think of your cinnamon buns as soon as I've had a chance to try them! We eat a low fat diet - I've lost about 130lbs in the last year that way and feel much healthier both physically and mentally because of it but I do miss treats sometimes as does my partner who has the really sweet tooth in this house. I try to only get her things that aren't going to be too bad but the sound of something that will make you think you have sinned when you haven't is great. Do you have a calorie count for your buns at all? ********************************************************* Hi, Virginia. Congratulations on the weight loss! Please please please write back and tell us how you did it - the food you eat, what kind of exercise you do, and - most important - what you had to tell yourself and keep telling yourself to turn your life around. My estimate is about 190 calories per cinnamon bun (113 for the flour, 25 for the sugar, 35 for the light butter or butter substitute and 15 for the canola oil). This compares to 670 for one Cinnabon. You may want to substitute Splenda (if it is available in the UK) for the sugar. I don't recommend NutraSweet, as this is made of aspartame which breaks down at high temperatures. If you want to cut down further on calories you can skip the icing completely or just spread on no-fat cream cheese just before serving. You may also elect to dispense with the Canola oil, but you will sacrifice on moisture and freshness. I personally like a little sin in my Cinnamon bun. Keep in mind these are pretty large rolls, equating to the size of a Danish. You can split your calorie intake in half by turning these into mini rolls: When you have rolled out your dough into the dimensions of a sheet of paper, slice the dough in half length-wise and freeze, and just use what you have left. Or you can bake two batches and freeze one. Thanks for reading, John
