John, Your reporting is excellent. Are there any new mood stablizers that are being studied? Thanks for your blogs and your website. Michele **************************************************** Thanks, Michele. Nothing new on the new mood stabilizers front, as far as I could see. The focus, instead, is on being smarter with the meds we have right now. This means being very careful about prescribing an antidepressant to someone with bipolar. It also means close patient-psychiatrist alliances. I'm going to have to go through my notes, but what I gathered is patients who see their psychiatrists frequently do much better on their meds. I won't put a number on this, but if you feel you are not seeing your psychiatrist enough, it is probably worth scheduling in the extra routine visit, even if this extra visit may involve you paying out of your own pocket.
