to learning about the brain and how all this works, (BY THE WAY HELLO THERE JOHN!!!)  and the bp aspect of it and how there are such conflicting and exciting new discoveries each and every day

....gives me hope that one day we will have an exact answer not a mirage of THEORIES that currently run rampid in this area..

John, I too am so enticed, enthralled and sorta uhm OCD over learning something new about this disorder and the brain and newest methods/findings/treatments/coping skills ...as you well know for i've picked your brain so many times its a wonder you even acknowledge yet another question but i have to ask.....

what do you mean by this comment???

At an afternoon session, a four-or-five person panel is discussing the pros and cons of the 10-minutes meds check. I catch the first speaker, Charles Nemeroff MD, PhD of Emory University, who is very much opposed to this aspect of mangled care.

WHat is a 10 minute med check?? and why does the one doct very much oppose it??? I have never heard of that, sorry if redundant question for you but i am in the dark on that one.....but soooooo want to know what it is.....

Oh yeah and wanted to say wonder why Lamictal is now ousted as not a good medication???????

that is my MAIN med along with abilify that seems to keep me....SurprisedUndecided well, lets just say under control, although not always....not always...as you well knowEmbarassed

....but with rapid cyclers with mixed mood stages daily i'm not sure anything would thwart the cycles.....

BUT know that I was on seroquel for a while....then all the findings of long term use, possible sides that weren't conducive to me accepting it as an option, so that med spooks me for some reason

....but love to know the take on the lamictal...details details tehee...you know me.....looked up on line and well found nothing as of yet on the bad concerning lamictal....and here i was hoping it was the wonder drug....yeah right....tehee....no such thing....at least in my opinion..

but i want to thank you for going through all you do in order to help US, it means a lot to me, however i too suffer EXTREMELLY from sleep deprivation nearly all the time and know that you must be careful my friend...please....we need you but we need you healthy dont push yourself so hard and end up sending yourslf spiraling for the knowledge to share with us....we care about you and i personally hope you're doing alright....

all that movement, schedules, time frames, people, noises, lights, etc would have sent me RUNNING back to that hotel room or actually HOMEEmbarassed for ocd about hotel/motels cleanliness basically but just another hurdle i vault, public places....hmmm...gotta have em, gotta utilize em, but darn if they dont send ME reeling....so just please take care while gathering all this information for us.....

anything you can offer in the means of explaining the aforementioned quesion would be greatly appreciated.....

I wonder, have they done any testing on lesions in the brain and it's affects on the bp syndrome? Have they explored "non traditional areas" such as the possibility that our WHOLE brain is ALWAYS engaged, where as most can tune out or shut down the more "primitive" instincts that the brain has stored for survival, perception and so forth??

I just can't help but be curious as to how such great things, great creativity, great inspirational people (including a nobel prize winner) can be as "broken" as what the masses or media or even some pdocs believe bps to be

....i see us as a diverse more in tune group to our environment and YES it overwhelms and YES we exhibit nontraditional behavior, and YES it is extremely hard to deal day to day, moment to moment, but yet i wonder

......the brain is so complex, i wonder if we'll ever be able to fully understand it...and so want more than THEORIES to rule the mental health genre' ya know...but I want you to know i so appreciate you going to these events, for i know i could not do so and yet i get to benefit from the knowledge shared, don't seem fair....and therefore i thank you for doing what you do for all of us....

keep up the good work, but NOT to the point of affecting your own health please...

well, when you get a chance please let me know what you think of my perception of what you shared, perhaps my focus isn't on track, uhm  a VERY big possibility, but so thought lamictal was the promoted drug for bp......and i'm on it!! So would love to hear the take on that too..

thanks again John, your a kind soul to put yourself through these trying times in order to reach out and help another....thank you this ctry girl appreciates it!
    your friend,

    ctry girl

    Hi John,

I was very interested in the latest interest in re-thinking the use of antidepressants in bipolar.  I want to bring up the subject with my doctor next week.  Your article is one of a few I've read recently.  It would be great to get rid of another pill bottle.

    Dear John!

Your writings, expecially when abroad, are great lessons in taking the biboplar pulse and temperature so as to keep in touch with what bp is doing while you weren't looking.
For this I am eternally grateful!

My computer was just reconditioned----in the process I lost your Blog and Newsletter.

Will you put out the information for us?  I promise I will write it down where I can't help finding it, and will never bother you for such mundane stuff again!!!!

That last  comment wasn't from anonymous-----it was from me, 71yr-old Mary, who lost it all to computer reconditioning!  What to do?
