About Me

I am a mother to a 17 year old son diagnosed with Juvenile Onset bipolar (previously misdiagnosed as ADHD and treated for years as such)...he has also been diagnosed as dyslexic and CAPD, with a processing speed of 5:1....even though his IQ is in the superior range...we are currently attempting to homeschool because he cannot function in the regular school setting...and the school does nothing to try to understand him...but homeschool is not working either because he refuses to do any kind of assignments...

married to a wonderful man who takes an awful lot of crap from my son...
my husband is the one with kidney disease...
We have many cats and dogs and a bird...live in a small acreage in smalltown rural Iowa...

I just want to learn more ways to help my son manage his anger outbursts...his rages...and help me learn to keep MY temper when he does rage out of control...

and HOW DO I GET HIM TO HELP OUT AROUND HERE?!?!?!....it cannot all be just teenage laziness...can it be?!

I have my degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design, but right now work part time as an assistant director at a small library, and teach when I can at the local community college

I am just trying to keep my own sanity most of the time!!!
