Hello All,
I've written many times about my son, but now my husband and I are helping him in the fight to have shared custody of his 9-month-old daughter. Although my son has been stable on bipolar meds without a manic or depressive episode since Feb '07, his former girlfriend/mother of his child is using his bipolar diagnosis to say that he should only have supervised (by us, his parents) visits with his child during three limited days per week, amounting to just over 20 hours. Is there anyone out there who can share a positive story of custody, or long-term parenting, that would help our case? The girlfriend is characterizing our son as unstable, but the same (or worse) is true of her (drug addiction, eating disorder, abusive home) and our granddaughter's safety is at stake. Is anyone a lawyer who can suggest cases where bipolar parents are given shared custody? Thanks in advance, Mattsmom
